Amtra Skimmer Surface

AMTRA SKIMMER SURFACE is a small skimmer useful for keeping the surface of the aquarium water clean.
In aquariums it is quite frequent to witness the formation on the surface of the water of an annoying oily patina (agglomeration of protein substances and bacteria generally deriving from an overeating or an excess of nutrients). The same can be dangerous as it does not allow the correct gas exchange between water and air, thus causing the oxygen level in the water to drop in favor of an accumulation of carbon dioxide (CO2). Furthermore, this patina hinders the correct penetration of light, effectively disadvantaging photosynthesis and therefore the growth of plants or the well-being of corals.
In plant aquariums, especially those managed with Aquascaping techniques, it is customary to carry out regular pruning of the plant mass: this involves the formation of small plant fragments that go to float on the surface of the water, a very unsightly thing especially in open aquariums but also harmful as they will rot.

AMTRA SKIMMER SURFACE, thanks to its suction grid placed on top of a float, catches the water by sucking it directly from the surface of the aquarium. The water then falls into the filter body where a sponge retains all the impurities inside it. In this way both oily patina and coarse particles will be correctly removed from the water, restoring the natural splendor of the aquarium and preserving the system from dangerous oxygen deficiencies. The same improved surface circulation of the water will favor the oxygenation of the water.
For better performance, in the case of medium / large aquariums or particularly dirty water surfaces, it is advisable to remove the protective grid from the float, thus increasing the flow of water into the skimmer.
AMTRA SKIMMER SURFACE can be used continuously in the aquarium as an additional filter and to improve water circulation or used when problems arise or after plant maintenance / pruning operations.

Place AMTRA SKIMMER SURFACE in the tank so that the float remains 3-4cm from the skimmer body. Thoroughly clean the aquarium wall before attaching the suction cups.
