Chaetodon robustus

Chaetodon robustus, commonly known as the Three banded butterflyfish, is a small butterflyfish. Their body is silvery-white with some yellow spots on it. They've three orange-brown vertical bars (through the eye, behind the gill and one just in front of the caudal fin). Pectoral, anal and dorsal fins range from bright yellow to brownish and the caudal fin is white.

These fish are quite peaceful to most other fish, but might haress similar looking fish. They live mostly in pairs in rocky areas. In an aquarium they can best be kept alone unless a proven pair can be found. They're real omnivores feeding on all sorts of worms, other invertebrates and algae (especially when adult), but they're also facultative corallivores, meaning they do eat but don't need corals. This makes them not really suitable for most reef tanks though, but a perfect pick for a fish-only tank! Feed them a varied diet of live and frozen meaty foods and make sure you supplement this with a good quality algae based flake and/or pellet food to make them really happy!
