Ctenochaetus striatus

Ctenochaetus striatus, commonly known as the Striated bristletooth tang, is a medium sized tang. This is a quite variable species. When young some individual are amazingly bright coloured with a dark blue/pruple base colour with orange lines and orange tips of the caudal fin. When older they become beige to rusty brown with very fine stripes. And depending on the origin they may either develop spots or stripes on the face.

It can be aggressive towards other tangs and food competitors, but will generally leave other fish a lone. A great algae eater for a medium to large sized tank.

Like other tangs, it will eat meaty foods, but it's important it can graze on algae/seaweed the entire day to ensure it will stay healthy. So feed flakes/pellets multiple times a day and make sure there is always seaweed available.
