Hydnophora spp. (Green) (frag)

Hydnophora spp., commonly known as Horn Coral or Fire Coral, are SPS/LPS-like stony corals known for their compact, encrusting, or branching growth forms and distinctive raised corallite structures. Their polyps are small but can extend from the surface, giving the coral a textured, fuzzy appearance when fully expanded. They have fluo-green color. Their fast growth, unusual texture, and attractive coloration make them a striking addition to reef aquariums.

Care in Aquariums:

• Lighting: Moderate to high

• Flow: Moderate to strong, turbulent or indirect flow

• Placement: Lower to middle rockwork; provide good water movement and adequate space around the coral

• Feeding: Primarily photosynthetic but benefits from occasional fine particulate coral food or small meaty foods

• Space: Allow plenty of room for growth and expansion; avoid placing it close to neighboring corals as it can be aggressive

• Handling: Handle carefully and avoid direct contact with the coral, as Hydnophora can have a strong sting
