Merulina ampliata (Green), commonly known as a Ridge Coral, is a plating or encrusting stony coral known for its thin, folded growth form and distinctive winding ridges across the surface. Its polyps are small but can extend from the ridges, giving the coral a textured appearance when fully expanded. It has a vibrant fluo-green color, which can become especially striking under blue reef lighting. Its unique structure and bright coloration make it an attractive addition to reef aquariums.

• Lighting: Moderate to high

• Flow: Moderate, indirect and turbulent flow

• Placement: Lower to middle rockwork; provide good water movement and space for outward growth

• Feeding: Primarily photosynthetic but benefits from occasional fine particulate coral food

• Space: Allow plenty of room for growth and expansion; avoid placing it too close to aggressive neighboring corals

• Handling: Handle carefully to avoid damaging the delicate ridges and tissue along the coral surface
