Centropyge hybrid (flavissima/vrolikii)

Centropyge hybrid (flavissima x vrolikii), also known as the Lemonpeel/Pearlscale angelfish hybrid, is a natural occurring hybrid of C. flavissima and C. vrolikii. They've the typical Centropyge body shape and their base colour is bright yellow just like flavissima. Towards the caudal fin the body gets a little darker like a vrolikii and they also have the blue edge around the unpaired fins and around the eye as seen in the parent species.

Like all other angelfish it's hermphroditic and the most dominant fish will turn into a male when there is no other male around. These fish are quite peaceful but be careful combining them with fish a lot smaller or larger and other (dwarf)angelfishes. Although dwarf angels are certainly more likely to be reef safe compared to their larger relatives and thus seen more often in reef tanks, they're always a risk. With C. flavissima being quite risky with corals and vrolikii being relatively safe we don’t know what this hybrid will do. Certain corals like Acanthastrea and Blastomussa and clams can best be avoided if you want to play on safe. Keeping them well fed seems to reduce the risk so make sure to feed them a proper varied diet of algae and meaty foods to make them really happy!
