Centropyge vrolikii

Centropyge vrolikii, commonly known as the Pearlscale angelfish, is a medium-sized dwarf angelfish They've the typical Centropyge body shape and a cream to yellowish base colour with the rear third of the body black. Fins are usually a little more yellow compared to the body and around the anal, caudal and dorsal fin runs a thin blue rim.

Like all other angelfish it's hermphroditic and the most dominant fish will turn into a male when there is no other male around. Vrolikii is known to be one of the more dominant dwarf angels, so be careful combining them with fish a lot smaller or larger and other (dwarf)angelfishes. Although dwarf angels are certainly more likely to be reef safe compared to their larger relatives and thus seen more often in reef tank, they're always a risk. C. vrolikii mainly eats algae, but they’re also one of the lesser safe options and are known to pick on LPS, soft corals and clam mantles. So keep this in mind before introducing them into a reef tank. Keeping them well fed seems to reduce the risk so make sure to feed them a proper varied diet of algae and meaty foods to make them really happy!
