Chaetodon guentheri

Chaetodon guentheri, commonly known as the Crochet butterflyfish, is a medium-sized butterflyfish. Their base colour is white which fades into yellow in the tip of the dorsal fin. Some individuals have a largely white body, some mostly yellow. On their body, they've many dark spots which are arranged differently in every fish like a human fingerprint. Except for the pectoral and pelvic fins, all fins are yellow,with a thin white rim. On their head they've a vertical black bar through the eye.

These fish are quite peaceful to most other fish, but might haress similar looking fish. They live usually solitary, but can be seen as a schooling species when on the move. They prefer the warm deeper reefs with a lot of coral or sponges, but have also been spotted in open water cleaning large fish. In an aquarium they can best be kept alone unless a proven pair can be found. They're omnivores feeding on all sort of invertebrates, but they're also facultative corallivores, meaning they do eat, but don't need corals.This makes them a risk in a reef tank, but a perfect pick for a fish-only tank! Feed them a varied diet of live and frozen meaty foods to make them thrive!
