Ostorhinchus cookii
Ostorhinchus cookii, commonly known as the Cook's Cardinalfish, is a friendly schooling fish. They have reddish-brown coloured stripes on a silver body. Juveniles have a black spot at the base of the caudal fin. Probably to resemble an eye and confuse predators. In nature they hide close to rocky ledges and coral reefs and are active during the night.
Like most Apogonidae, they can be kept as a couple, but in our opinion they look far better when kept in a school. Offer them a varied diet of live/frozen food and a good quality pellet or flake and these fish will thrive in your tank!
