Pseudochromis elongatus
Pseudochromis elongatus, commonly known as the Red elongated dottyback, is a small fish in the dottyback family. Unlike their common name suggests, this fish isn't really red. Their head is a little salmon, sometimes reddish, coloured and the rest of the body is mainly pink. Some fish develop a darker purplish colour over time on their body. In their caudal fin is a large dark spot and the rest of the caudal fin sometimes shows red as well.
These fish are not as well known as some of the other dottybacks from the family, which is really too bad, because they're one of the friendlier Pseudochromis and make up perfect fish for a mixed reef tank. These fish are solitary in nature and probably best kept alone unless a proven pair can be found. They are carnivores, so make sure to feed them a varied diet of meaty live and frozen food combined with good quality flakes and pellets.
