Acanthurus coeruleus
Acanthurus coeruleus, commonly known as the Blue surgeonfish, is a large (in our eyes) underrated surgeonfish. When young they are bright yellow with a light blue eye and rim around the anal and dorsal fin. When mature they become beautiful marine blue with the light blue rim around the fins remaining. And it will develop thin scribbled lines over the body.
It needs plenty of swimming space and clean water to thrive, but with these criteria met, this fish will be one of the most amazing tangs. It can be aggressive towards other fish, especially other tangs and food competitors, but will make up for that with eating algae once hierarchy is established.
Like other tangs, it will eat meaty foods, but it's important it can graze on algae/seaweed the entire day to ensure it will stay healthy. So feed flakes/pellets multiple times a day and make sure there is always seaweed available. seaweed available.
