DKI Oleuropein Phenol - 50 g

DKI supplemented with olive leaf extract = DKI Oleuropein PHENOL
Oleuropein (OLE) is a phenolic compound that can be found throughout the olive tree
parts, mainly in leaves. In the search for natural, safe, selective, and low environmental
impact treatments to fight fish diseases, several studies have demonstrated the
suitability and efficacy of OLE against different pathogens. For instance, the hemorrhagic
septicemia virus (VHSV), a salmonid rhabdovirus that infects continental and sea farmed
fish and a wide range of wild marine species worldwide, causing high economic losses
every year. OLE has been shown to inhibit in vitro the infectivity of VHSV, being thus
considered as a lead compound for the design of potential therapeutic agents for other
rhabdovirus and/or enveloped virus. Moreover, olive leaf extracts, as a source of OLE,
have demonstrated to be effective when supplied in diet against bacterial infections
such as: i) Yersininia ruckeri, inducing the up-regulation of key genes involved in
stimulation of the immune response such as TNF-, IL-8 and lL-1, and ii) Edwardsiella
tarda, increasing the survival rate, and improving fish immune parameters revealed by
the significant up-regulation of lL-1 and TNF-. Finally, direct anti-inflammatory
properties of OLE includes down-regulation of: i) iNOS and COX-2, two key inflammatory
markers, and ii) lL-1 and IL-6, two critical pro-inflammatory cytokines.
