The Hanna Marine Calcium Checker® bridges the gap between simple chemical test kits and professional instrumentation. Chemical test kits have limited accuracy and resolution since they rely upon the human eye to discern differences in color. Professional instrumentation incorporates a light source such as an LED or tungsten lamp with a filter and a light sensing detector to precisely determine absorbance and ion concentration. Professional instrumentation offers greater resolution and accuracy but can cost hundreds of dollars. The Hanna Marine Calcium Checker® uses a fixed wavelength LED and silicon photo detector to provide the accuracy of professional instrumentation at the affordable price of a chemical test kit.

The HI758 Checker® HC (Handheld Colorimeter) provides a simple, accurate and cost-effective way to measure calcium. Required for the development of calcium carbonate skeletons of coral reefs, calcium is a crucial component of marine waters. Designed as a more accurate alternative to chemical test kits, the HI758 provides quick, accurate results in four easy steps:

HI758-11 Details:

The Marine Calcium Checker® HC Calibration Check Set – HI758-11  provides a simple solution to validating the Marine Calcium Checker® HC – HI758 that has a range of 200 to 600 ppm calcium. This high-quality set of standards is manufactured in our state-of-the-art facility and comes supplied with a Certificate of Analysis. The Certificate of Analysis provides the lot number, reference values and expiration date for traceability when certifying the Checker®HC.

HI758-11 is a high-quality set of calibration standards that allows users to validate the Marine Calcium Checker® HC – HI758. The HI758-11 includes one sealed cuvette for zero ppm calcium and one cuvette that is tinted to an equivalent 400 ±20 ppm calcium sample @ 25℃. The calibration check set is produced in our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility using reagent grade chemicals in a temperature controlled environment.

HI758-26 Details:

The HI758-26 are the replacement reagents for the HI758 Marine Calcium Checker® HC. These high-quality reagents are manufactured in our state-of-the-art facility and are clearly marked with the lot number and expiration date on each packet for traceability.

The HI758-26 are high-quality reagents that are pre-measured, allowing for users to achieve fast and accurate measurements with their Marine Calcium Checker® HC. These reagents follow the Zincon Method in which the reaction causes a blue tint in the sample. By simply adding 1 mL of the first reagent to the sample, followed by a packet of the second reagent in the HI758-26 set, the reaction will take place and the HI758 will determine the concentration from the color that is produced. The results will be displayed in ppm of calcium. These reagents are designed to be used with samples that have an expected range of 200 to 600 ppm calcium.
