Rhinecanthus verrucosus
Rhinecanthus verrucosus, commonly known as the Blackbelly triggerfish, is a medium-sized, triggerfish. They look very similar to R. assasi but with a large black patch on their belly. The vertical eye stripes are a little less pronounced, as are the horizontal stripes just in front of the caudal fin. The horizontal stripe coming from the mouth is bright red though, and the caudal fin has more color as well. Combined with the unusual triggerfish shape and large head, a lot of people are attracted to this fish. A quite common fish around rubble and algae fields.
Remember it isn't reef safe though! It's an omnivore feeding on almost anything from algae and detritus to mollusks, crustaceans, worms and sponges. Corals might also be damaged so be careful when placing this fish in a reef tank. It can also be agressive to other fishes, so make sure you pick the other fishes with care!
