Centropyge interruptus - T.B.

Centropyge interruptus, commonly known as the Japanese angelfish, is a very rare dwarf angelfish. They've the typical Centropyge body shape, with the head and front part of the body orange. The back is very dark blue to purple. The caudal fin is yellow and the entire body is covered in purplish blue spots and short lines. The older they get the smaller the spots get. Juveniles have a black spot with blue outline in the rear end of the dorsal fin.

Like all other angelfish it's hermphroditic and the most dominant fish will turn into a male when there is no other male around. These fish are quite shy (in nature and in an aquarium) so try not to combine them with dominant, large or very active fish and make sure ample hiding spots are available. Because C. interruptus is a rare species, less is known compared to most other angelfishes. Most of them do seem to show mainly interest in algae and don’t seem to do large damage to corals. But they might pick on certain corals more than the coral likes. Keeping them well fed seems to reduce the risk, so make sure to feed them a proper varied diet of algae and meaty foods to make them really happy!

Keep in mind, although they also live in temperate water, our animals are bred and kept on tropical temperatures!

This fish is Tank Bred and will adapt to your aquarium easier compared to a wild caught specimen!
