Rudarius ercodes - T.B.
Rudarius ercodes, commonly known as the Whitespotted pygmy filefish, is one of the smallest filefish. These fish are from the Northwest-Pacific, meaning thiis is a temperate species and not really suitable for the average reef tank. Their body is yellow to brown and covered in cream or white spots with a body shape similar to the more well known A. tomentosus.
Filefishes are usually bought because they eat aiptasia. Although this is often the case, some individuals refuse to eat this. On the other hand, it's known to pick on coral polyps and their tissue and this might be an important part of their diet in nature. So these fish are always a bit of a risk with corals. They are very friendly to other fish except their own genus though.
This fish is Tank Bred and will adapts to your aquarium easier compared to a wild caught specimen!
