Gobiodon okinawae - T.B.

Gobiodon okinawae, commonly known as the Okinawa goby, is a small reef-dwelling goby. These small gems are entirely yellow with sometimes a little pale white cheeks. Although beautiful to watch, the best thing about these fishes is their behaviour. They mostly hover between the branches of Acropora in nature, often seen resting on them. In our aquarium they'll show the same behaviour but they're not picky in which coral to rest on, so they're even suitable for tanks without Acropora. Usually a coral high up in the tank is picked and they observe the enitre tank from here like a watchman in a tower.

In nature they're usually observed in groups of 5-15 individuals, but if your tank is not large enough to house multiple of these fish (territorial-wise), they can best be kept alone. They're very peaceful and will pose no risk to other fish except very similar gobies when housed too small. Just make sure you don't house them with carnivores with a large mouth. These tiny fishes are carnivores and do need to be able to eat multiple times a day or you'll quickly see their bellies concave. Feed them a varied diet of copepods, brine shrimp and high quality pellets/flakes if thet accept that. They can nip on tiny SPS polyps, but compared to the groth rate, they usually won't do any serious damage to them.

This fish is Tank Bred and will adapt to your aquarium easier compared to a wild caught specimen!
