Lutjanus sebae - T.B.
Lutjanus sebae, commonly known as the Emperor red snapper, is a very large colourful snapper. As juveniles these fish are almost white with bright to dark red broad stripes and fins. As they mature they get entirely red sometimes faintly showing the juvenile pattern.
In nature these fish like to hover above the reef or open patches of sand or gravel. They do this in groups with similar sized individuals or solitary. In an aquarium they need plenty of swimming space and a huge tank due to their large adult size. These fish are no picky eaters, just make sure they get a balanced diet with algae as well as meaty foods like fish, shrimps, crabs and mussel. Do keep in mind that they will eat snails, shrimps, crabs, starfishes and even small fishes if they fit their mouth.
This fish is Tank Bred and will adapt to your aquarium easier compared to the wild caught specimens!
