Lutjanus synagris - T.B.

Lutjanus synagris, commonly known as the Lane snapper, is a  large snapper. Their base colour is metallic silver to blueish. On top of that are broken/blotchy orange horizontal stripes. The eyes and caudal fin become red when the fish is happy.

In nature these fish like to hover above the reef or open patches of sand or gravel. They do this large in groups with similar sized individuals. In an aquarium they need plenty of swimming space and a huge tank due to their large adult size. These fish are no picky eaters, just make sure they get a balanced diet with algae as well as meaty foods like fish, shrimps, crabs and mussel. If they don’t accept food in the beginning, try to feed them when the light is dim/off. Do keep in mind that they will eat snails, shrimps, crabs, starfishes and even small fishes if they fit their mouth.

This fish is Tank Bred and will adapt to your aquarium easier compared to the wild caught specimens!
